Whatever the reason, when we recently got to take an Obsidian Black model out for a few hours, we couldn’t help but notice how incredibly punchy the Sport is, whether bursting away from a stoplight or accelerating to pass on the highway. Sometimes we even slowed down a bit on the highway just to feel the seamless thrust of getting back up to speed. With the 2010 Roadster Sport, the EV grin is still in full effect. Find out what other kinds of fun can be had in a $125,500 Roadster Sport after the jump …
When we weren’t gleefully zipping down the straightaways, we tested the Roadster Sport’s new adjustable suspension on the winding, hill-strewn roads west of Saratoga, CA. On these curves, the surefooted Sport model faithfully kept to the road like a mountain goat. Overall, if there’s a theme to the 2010 Sport model compared to earlier iterations, it’s that everything good has been improved while everything annoying has been kept the same …
The Lotus DNA in the Roadster Sport also becomes apparent as soon as you crawl into its confined space. Anyone 5’9″ or under will feel right at home in the cockpit. That is, unless you want to get in or out, which requires at least a bronze medal in gymnastics to do gracefully. Anyone 6’2″ or taller will immediately wish for more legroom and notice that the sightlines through the windshield top could be improved. Since the exterior design remains the same, the 2010 Roadster Sport also retains the prior model’s terrible rear visibility. The speedometer is likewise well-hidden behind the small steering wheel, which is a problem if you’re interested in driving without going too much over the speed limit. A more visual cue – HUD? – that you’re doing 80 would be a welcome addition for 2011 …

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport made the new record of fastest car on July 4,2010….
It achieved the average top speed of 431 km/h (268 mph) that was not expected even by the Bugatti’s Engineering Team…..
A 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, the rarest of the rare, may have set a sales record at auction.
The auction house, Gooding & Company, won’t disclose the sale price even as it touts that that the car went for a sales record. It calls the Bugatti the “world’s most valuable car.” Autoblog puts the sales price at “between $30-40 million, easily eclipsing the $12.2 million paid for a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa this time last year.”
Formerly the coveted pillar of the world-renowned Williamson Bugatti Collection, the Atlantic was the 2003 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance best in Show car.
Tradition – History – Bugatti models – the Bugatti Brand
The car documents state a maximum velocity of 407 km/h, but that’s an understatement. On April 19, 2005, inspection officials recorded a top speed average of 408.47 km/h. For years, the Bugatti engineers had worked diligently in order to push the 400 km/h boundary. No wind tunnel can simulate this velocity, which is why after each of a long series of improvements, the different ground clearance levels and the modifications of the rear fenders, spoiler and underbody were tested separately on high-speed test ranges. This ambition and diligence paid off, as the official speed measurement proves.
Over the past few years Bugatti has released numerous versions of its Veyron supercar, but the Grand Sport model hasn’t been out enough to get too many variations. Bugatti released the Sang Bleu version this past summer in Monterey, but that’s about it. In addition to the the pair of Grand Sports we drove, those are the only color combinations we’ve seen for the drop-top Bugatti.

The Ferrari 599 GTB was designed with several specific objectives in mind: to increase driving pleasure, to guarantee performance (courtesy of technology transfers from the F1 single-seaters), and to ensure comfort, ergonomics and safety. The new Ferrari 599 GTB sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed in excess of 330 km/h. The car takes its name from the Fiorano circuit Ferrari uses to hone the performance of its track and road cars. ‘GTB’ stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta, after the most famous Ferrari berlinettas ever built, and ’599′ is the displacement of the V12 engine divided by 10 …

First, the engine: a new 4.5-litre direct injection V8 putting out – ready for this? – 420kW. That’s 58kW more than the current F430, and 38kW more than the Scuderia.
We’d heard rumours that the F430 replacement might gain turbochargers, but the 458 Italia remains defiantly naturally aspirated – in fact, Ferrari says it manages the highest specific output of any naturally aspirated engine ever. It’ll rev all the way up to 9,000rpm too, making it the highest-revving Ferrari of all time

Stop the press! Ferrari has officially unveiled the 458 Italia, the long awaited successor for the mid-engine Ferrari F430, and the design is leaving our editorial staff speechless! The super car looks impressive from any angle as it has a design that has never been seen before on a Ferrari model. The high performance sports car comes complete with a new engine, improved aerodynamics, upgraded handling and improved instrumentation and ergonomics inside the cabin.
The wedge shaped body was penned by Pininfarina, while the interior was left up to the work of Donato Coco, Ferrari’s Chief Designer. While you might say that the exterior more or less based on the traditional Ferrari lines, there are also a few revolutionary new ones, all intended to improve the car’s aerodynamics …

Ferrari learned a lot developing the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox for the California and it has had to do even more development to fit the unit into the 458 Italia’s engine bay, under the curvaceous glasshouse.
The dual-clutch unit from the California has been modified with different ratios and now shifts even faster than the 430 Scuderia’s 0.06sec. The gearbox’s shift style is likely to be slightly more aggressive than the California’s.
The E-Diff differential and the F1-Trac skid control system have long been the flagship carryover technologies from Formula 1, but the 458 Italia takes them even further and adds another piece of F1-derived technology to the brakes …
AutoCar: Ferrari 458 Italia
Ferrari has drawn from the visual spirit of the Enzo to create a power-packed replacement for the F430 that shuns the rounded curves of its past V8s in favor of chiseled, unmistakable aggression.
Boasting a new 4.5-liter V8 engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a 202-mph top speed, Ferrari has revealed that the car–code-named F142 and long rumored to be named the F450–will be called the 458 Italia. Following Ferrari lore, it stands for a 4.5-liter engine with eight cylinders, though why Ferrari thought people would forget it came from Italy is anybody’s guess.
The Ferrari 458 Italia will be unveiled on Sept. 8 at the Frankfurt motor show. It has been heavily sculpted for aerodynamic efficiency and has picked up more racing technology than any Ferrari before

Let me start by saying that I flew over to Britain from Los Angeles as a guest of Jaguar and McLaren, so I suppose you could say I’m not an impartial reviewer, but I know a good car when I drive one and the Jaguar XJ is a very good car …
The XJ has all the characteristics you would expect from a really good British car, and then some. Let’s face it, though: British has not always meant best when it comes to automotive engineering. The sad thing is that for all the goodwill that Jaguar built up over the decades, a few years of electronic hiccups and what-not will haunt you for the next 20 or more …

Jaguar says the car will have a starting price of $72,500 in the United States. That will buy you the naturally aspirated model, which is also offered for $79,500 in XJL long-wheelbase guise. The XJ Supercharged carries a price of $87,500, and the XJL version adds $3,000 to the total, for a final price of $90,500. Lastly, the XJ Supersport and XJL Supersport models will cost $112,000 and $115,000, respectively …

Ian Callum, design director at Jaguar, said: “The new XJ is a thoroughly modern interpretation of the quintessential Jaguar. Its visual impact stems from the elongated teardrop shape of the car’s side windows, that powerful stance and its wide track. It is the most emphatic statement yet of Jaguar’s new design direction.”
The new XJ has a panoramic glass roof as standard, which also gives the car a lower, streamlined roofline, and a 520-litre boot that can accommodate two large suitcases. Three trim levels are available: Luxury, Premium Luxury and Portfolio, beyond which lie two top-of-the-range models: the Supercharged and Supersport versions …
Telegraph: Jaguar XJ
The 2010 XJ comes in four models: XJ, XJL (long wheelbase), Supercharged and Supersport, the latter of which is available by special order only. The XJ and XJL come with a standard 5.0-liter V-8 rated at 385 hp. The supercharged’s version of this 5.0-liter engine makes 470 hp in the Supercharged trim level and 510 hp in the Supersport. Jaguar’s claimed zero-to-60 mph times are 5.4, 4.9 and 4.7 seconds, respectively. Though it shares its new direct-injection power plants and six-speed automatic transmission with the XF, Jaguar says the larger XJ’s swift sprints come courtesy of a similar aerodynamic drag coefficient and lightweight aluminum construction. The mileage estimates are 19 mpg for the standard and 18 mpg in the supercharged versions in mixed city/highway driving …

This is the Mercedes S400 BlueHybrid, the company’s first production hybrid. Mercedes has developed the drivetrain technology in a joint venture with BMW, which plans to use it to underpin the similarly conceived 7-Series ActiveHybrid.
The S400 uses a lightly reworked version of Merc’s existing 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine, with a new cylinder head, lightweight pistons and a reprofiled crank, although it does without the direct injection that Merc uses in other applications.
The S400 BlueHybrid doesn’t demand any particular change in driving style. In fact, it feels a good deal like the S350, only a touch more powerful under acceleration in lower gears.
On the open road in taller gears, the added output is not immediately evident, owing in part to the added 75kg brought on by the hybrid system.
Pricing details have yet to be confirmed, so that’s a difficult question to answer. But, on first impressions, this is a thoroughly well-engineered car that moves the hybrid game along by some margin.

Hybridcars: Mercedes-Benz S400 BlueHybrid
At last week’s Chicago Auto Show Mercedes-Benz quietly announced the impending arrival of its first volume production hybrid, the S400 BlueHybrid. The S400 goes on sale this summer with the new mild hybrid system co-developed by Daimler and BMW. Unlike the Two-Mode hybrid that will go into the ML450 later this year, the S400 used a 20 hp disk shaped motor, sandwiched between the engine and transmission. In typical fashion, the system provides auto-start-stop, electric assist, and regenerative braking capabilities …
Autoblog: Mercedes-Benz S400 BlueHybrid
It’s probably best to call the new Mercedes-Benz S400 BlueHybrid a mild, rather than full, hybrid, because it can’t propel itself on electrical power alone. In other words, the BlueHybrid is not powered by the two-mode system co-developed with GM for big SUVs, which will be an option for the M-Class next year. This is a smaller, cheaper system designed to be scaleable across all Mercedes car lines …

For Porsche, the road to the future is not a journey into the unknown. The road is determined by the clear, but flexible, path of the company.
Porsche doesn’t simply build sports cars. Porsche is more. Much more. And Porsche is different.
We are constantly in motion. True, we’re small – but the Porsche Principle knows no upward limits.
Focus on performance is deep-rooted in ourselves. But it certainly does not end with the cars.

What is it?
Porsche claims the Panamera is a cross between a sports car, a limousine and an estate. Basically it’s for anyone who wants a thrilling driver’s machine but with all the practicality and luxury of a Mercedes S-Class …
What does it look like?
Erm. Well you wouldn’t say it was pretty in the same way a Maserati Quattroporte is …
What’s it like inside?
Much, much better. In fact the Panamera’s interior is among the best in the business …
What’s it like to drive?
Good. Very good. But what did you expect – it’s a Porsche! Performance from the 4.8-litre V8 twin turbo is immense …
Make no mistake the Panamera is very good. What Porsche have achieved is truly impressive
To many people, the Porsche 911 Carrera is the definitive sports car, but in the 911 family, the top jock is the GT3. The current 997 family of 911s has been undergoing a major round of updates, and now it’s the GT3’s turn.
One innovative new option is PADM, which stands for Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts. These are hydraulic engine mounts using magnetorheological fluid so their stiffness can be varied according to a programmed map. At high revs they get stiffer to provide a more precise feel by reducing the relative motion between the powertrain and body. Another new option is a front-axle lifting feature, which raises the car’s front end by 1.2 inches when you press a button on the dash. This should help you avoid shredding the effective new front splitter at that local service station with the clifflike ramp.
Porsche Automobil Holding SE, usually shortened to Porsche SE, a Societas Europaea or European Public Company, is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury high performance automobiles, which is majority-owned by the Piëch and Porsche families. Porsche SE is headquartered in Zuffenhausen, a city district of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg.
The company was founded as Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, an Austro-Hungarian engineer born in Maffersdorf, Austria-Hungary (today Vratislavice nad Nisou, Czech Republic). Ferdinand Porsche is also known for designing the first Volkswagen, but Béla Barényi is credited with having conceived the basic design five years earlier. The company currently produces 911 (997), Boxster and Cayman sports cars and Cayenne sport utility vehicles. The latest model line, the four-door Panamera saloon (sedan), was launched on Monday, 20 April 2009.
In August 2009, Porsche SE and Volkswagen AG reached an agreement that the two companies would merge in 2011, to form an “Integrated Automotive Group” …
