Design

What is the meaning of the word design?

There are broad definitions and specific ones, but all have drawbacks. Some of them are too general to be meaningful, other ones exclude too much.

design.org
From inspiration, interviews, education and tutorials, Design.org seeks to help designers and those inspired by design to create a better world and promote their efforts on a global stage.  Whether it’s a piece of music or film or architecture or literature or packaging or type that quickens your pulse. Beauty in form and function that sends shivers down your spine. Someone, a person on this planet, created that moment. That moment, where your sense of the world changed, was by design. A designer created the experience you now possess in your heart and mind. We will celebrate those moments and their creators.

Design Museum
At the Design Museum we believe that without better design, better use of scarce resources, and more innovation, the future won’t work. We see design as an integral part of every aspect of life: a way to understand the world around us, and to make it a better place to live.

What is design?
I’ve been working in the Web design field since 1995, and what makes me laugh is that until now, I never really thought about what that meant. What exactly is “Web Design”? The Web part is pretty obvious – we’re on it. If you’re not sure what the Web is, you should check out Paul’s site. But what is design? I would bet that if you asked 10 people to define design, you’d get 10 different answers.

Top Design News
The purpose of Alltop is to help you answer the question, “What’s happening?” in “all the topics” that interest you. You may wonder how Alltop is different from a search engine. A search engine is good to answer a question like, “How many people live in China?” However, it has a much harder time answering the question, “What’s happening in China?” That’s the kind of question that we answer.
We do this by collecting the headlines of the latest stories from the best sites and blogs that cover a topic. We group these collections — “aggregations” — into individual web pages. Then we display the five most recent headlines of the information sources as well as their first paragraph. Our topics run from adoption to zoology with photography, food, science, religion, celebrities, fashion, gaming, sports, politics, automobiles, Macintosh, and hundreds of other subjects along the way.
